Who is Lana Alkattan?
Lana Alkattan is a professional tennis player, DTB-certified trainer, and referee based in Berlin, Germany. She is the founder and owner of the Lana Alkattan Tennis Academy, established in 2019 with the vision of combining professional excellence, discipline, and empowerment through tennis.
Born with a passion for sports and leadership, Lana’s journey in tennis began early and has spanned several countries, competitions, and roles from player to coach to mentor.


Tennis Career & Achievements
Lana Alkattan’s tennis journey began in Tangier, Morocco, where she competed in numerous national tournaments and quickly gained recognition for her strong performance, technical skill, and competitive spirit.
In 2011, she proudly represented the Iraqi National Team at the Arab Games (Olympic Qatar 2011) a historic milestone that established her as one of Iraq’s most remarkable female tennis athletes.
Lana is also recognized as the only Iraqi woman to enter the WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) and the first and only Iraqi female player to make a lasting mark on the international tennis scene. Her achievement stands as a symbol of resilience, ambition, and representation for women in sports across the Middle East.




Tennis Career & Achievements
After moving to Germany, Lana continued her career both on and off the court. She became a DTB (Deutscher Tennis Bund) certified trainer and referee, bringing her international experience into the structured German tennis system.
Today, she trains U18 and U15 teams in the German Tennis League, where her leadership and strategic approach have made a significant impact — transforming her teams’ performance and ambition. Together, they aim for even higher competitive goals across national and regional leagues.

In 2019, Lana founded the Lana Alkattan Tennis Academy a place where professionalism meets passion. Her mission is to provide high-quality tennis training that balances technical skill, mental strength, and personal growth.
The academy is a reflection of her belief that tennis is more than a sport it’s a way to build confidence, discipline, and opportunity..
Scholarship & Empowerment
In addition to her coaching and academy leadership, Lana created the Lana Alkattan Tennis and Sports Scholarship, a program dedicated to supporting Iraqi girls who aspire to pursue tennis professionally.
Through this scholarship, Lana aims to empower young women by giving them access to training, mentorship, and international exposure continuing her mission to make tennis accessible and inspiring for the next generation.




Balancing Two Worlds
Lana Alkattan’s journey is a rare blend of technical innovation and athletic excellence. While her heart beats for tennis, her professional career in engineering and renewable energy reflects her sharp intellect, leadership, and drive for progress.
Beyond the court, Lana has built an impressive portfolio in the renewable energy and technology sector across Germany and Europe, leading high-impact projects focused on sustainability, solar energy, and system automation.
She began her engineering path with a Bachelor’s degree in Renewable Energy and Industrial Environment from the National School of Applied Sciences in Tangier, Morocco, followed by a Master’s degree in Energy Conversion and Management from the University of Offenburg, Germany.
Her career took off as she joined Fraunhofer ISE, one of Europe’s leading solar research institutes, where she contributed to the development and analysis of advanced photovoltaic modules. She later advanced to CTF Solar GmbH, where she led research and development projects that achieved record efficiency in thin-film solar cell technology earning recognition for technical innovation and project leadership.
After several years in renewable energy research and project management, Lana was appointed SCADA Project Manager at Vestas Deutschland GmbH, a global leader in wind energy solutions. She successfully oversaw the design, implementation, and performance of large-scale SCADA systems across international markets.
Today, Lana continues her professional journey with the world’s leading electricity company, where she contributes to shaping the future of sustainable energy on a global scale.
Her career reflects the same principles that define her success in tennis discipline, precision, and a relentless drive to excel. Lana’s dual path is a testament to how passion and professionalism can coexist one world driven by clean energy innovation, and the other by excellence through sport.
